Pricing and Booking Questions
These cover the money and the booking. Every job runs the same way: find the cause, agree the price, then start.
Call (07) 3523 7146What does a drain visit cost?
There is no hourly meter running. We find the cause, explain the fix and agree a fixed upfront price with you before any work starts, so the figure on the day is the figure you signed off.
How do I pay for the work?
You pay by card or EFTPOS on the day, once the job is finished and you have seen the drain running freely. There is no account to set up and nothing to chase up later.
How soon can someone look at my drain?
Ring in the morning and we can usually have a plumber at your place the same day. If the whole street's drains are running slow after a storm, ring early because those days book quickly.
What should I have ready when I ring?
Tell us which fixtures are slow, gurgling or overflowing, whether it is one drain or every drain at once, and how long it has been building. That points the plumber at the likely spot before the van arrives.
Do I get the price in writing before you start?
Yes. The plumber locates the blockage, spells out what clearing or repairing it involves, and you agree the fixed price before a tool is lifted. Work never starts on a verbal guess.
Who actually does the work?
Our plumbers do, under a current QBCC plumbing and drainage licence. The business is locally owned and operated, not a franchise, so the person at your drain knows these streets from regular runs through them.
Local Drain Questions
Now the pipes themselves. Keperra's housing stock and its creekside ground shape what goes wrong underground.
Call (07) 3523 7146Why do drains block more after summer storms?
Keperra cops about 1,048 mm in an average year, and most of it arrives in summer downpours. Silt, leaves and grit washed into gullies settle in the line once the water drops, narrowing a pipe that was already struggling.
Should old clay drains be cleared or replaced?
A camera run answers that. If the joints are simply grimy or root-furred, a clear restores flow and you keep the original pipe. If the wall is cracked, sagged or collapsed, a repair stops the choke coming back.
Which streets cop gully trouble near the creek?
Council's 2022 flood study maps a handful of creek-side blocks, Burdon Street and Duggan Street among them, where pits and house drains are the first to back up in a big storm. A clear before storm season helps those ones most.
Do tree roots really get into house drains?
They do around here. The golf links and the bushland fringe sit close to residential streets, so roots reach the joints in older clay runs. Jetting clears them out, but a cracked joint lets them return.
Jet blasting or an electric eel, which one?
Both clear drains, and the plumber chooses based on what the blockage looks like. Jetting scours grease, silt and root fur off the pipe wall with high-pressure water, while an eel cuts through a solid choke. Many jobs use one or the other.
Which suburbs does the run cover?
Keperra itself, plus the neighbouring suburbs on the same regular run: Arana Hills, Everton Hills, Mitchelton, Enoggera and The Gap. Each has its own page on this site with the drain issues common to that ground.
